Assignment 7 Cate Clay

As scary as applying to colleges is, it's also exciting. It gives you the chance to choose where you will spend the next four years, learning and preparing for your career. At times it's stressful to think that what I do now is going to determine where I even have a possibility to end up about two years from now. But overall I try to maintain the view that applying to colleges is fun and that no matter where I end up, I will enjoy this unique time in my life.
For me, the most important factor in choosing a college is the sense of community on the campus. I want a college with a collaborative student body, rather than a competitive one. I want to feel like everyone on campus is willing to helping one another. For this reason, I'm looking at small to medium-sized schools, where a distinct culture is present and serves to bring the student body together.
As far as academics go, I of course want a college that will provide me with a quality education. Being interested in neuroscience, I want a school with a strong program of studies for students seeking a career within this field. I think the expense of college will be worth it, if it helps me get a job that I truly enjoy and succeed in.
