Assignment 7- Katie Demos

I want to break the norm. I want to achieve, change, and be free to pursue what I love sans the judgement. Sans the look I get from parents, or the "ums," or the people I get life talks from. Music is what I love, and I am willing to work and push myself to be useful and important, to be a voice of freshness and innovation within the field. My ideal college will surround me with that. I want to be with like minds, who push and pursue even when people press for them to reconsider, whether that be in music or anything else.
Many say classical music is dying, but that is only because of those same voices who make no effort to help the industry thrive. that can only be achieved by further changing the game and listening to voices who will speak. I hope that I'll be able to be taught by those who only echo my passions and support them. My college should be there to aid me and help give me the resources I need to break the ice and propose new change in music. To do that, I must be taught everything there is to know and more; I must be inspired by voices who have changed themselves; I must become a leader and a follower and a voice for support. At college, I need an education as well as an epiphany, and I need an environment that can help me get there.
I stand right now as a fiery bundle of passion and potential, a plant waiting to be fostered and grown to its capacity, and then some. I hope for a school that can give me the right pushes and pulls to help me prosper.
