I have recently had a hard time reconciling my conservative Christian upbringing with issues that are prominent in the news today. My family has always held morals pretty high and it wasn’t until middle school that I realized that not everyone shares the same ideas or thinks the same way about certain issues. Today the mass media criticizes some of these Christian morals such as abortion and gay marriage making it harder for people to voice their opinions publicly. As I listened to the news and the opinions of those around me I questioned some of things I have been taught in my upbringing. Everyday I am surrounded by a very diverse group of people and as I grow older my opinions (although conflicted) have slightly changed from those I was brought up with. Listening to other peoples opinions and asking questions has helped me shape some of my own.
