Assignment 4 - Isabella Matthews

I was raised in a conservative, catholic household by a single mother. From a young age I haven’t agreed with the Catholic church on very much but having grown up in the Catholic church I also learned to hold a deep respect for any and all types of organized religion. While I did grow up believing in God, in the past few years I started to form my own opinions about God and religion that differed from those of my mother, stepdad, and the Catholic church. My mother grew up in a small town where church was a core value and was raised in a Baptist family. In questioning the Catholic church I also in turn questioned her motives in switching between two drastically different denominations and what made her choose Catholicism (in my opinion it isn’t the most inviting of denominations). However, I’ve come to terms with the fact that she must’ve had very valid reasons and she is in the process of coming to terms with my decision to break away from the denomination she chose to raise me in.
