Hello! My name is Christopher Beebout, but most people save
their tongues the effort and settle for Chris. This year, I hope to maintain good grades and pass all of my AP tests, as well as to develop more of my
skills in debate.
While I study, I enjoy listening to Sabaton (a Swedish heavy
metal band that sings about historical battles), or various movie/video game
soundtracks. I enjoy intense music; it always makes my actions seem much more
important than I would otherwise conclude. While I procrastinate, I enjoy
reading and gaming (on PC— none of that console trash). I like to fill my life outside of school with
church, volunteer work, and sunny walks.
As far as geeking goes, I ponder religion and the human identity
extensively. I believe that everyone has a responsibility to contemplate their
place in the world; that’s the only way any of us will figure out how we can
make the world better. But I’ve also come to realize that who we are “meant to
be” is not always for us to know. One character from the epic webcomic Homestuck phrased my sentiments
perfectly:
"I think we are given roles to challenge us that don't necessarily suit our strengths. At least I was. I have no idea what I'm doing here."
Right now, I have the role of a student, and although I’m
not the best writer, I look forward to the challenges that this class has to
offer me.
