Assignment 4 Lucy Ferguson

My parents were both born into christian households and I have gone to church with my family for as long as I can remember. Before sixth grade I had pretty much hung out with the same people who all went to church and had never really been exposed to other religions. When I got into middle school I quickly realized that people believed in many other religions and it especially came to a shock to me that some people didn't even believe in any religion. I had always known that other people didn't have the same religion as me but I had never actually experienced it. It was in sixth grade that I became very close friends with someone who was jewish. I went to her bat mitzvah and it really opened my eyes to the jewish religion. Seeing her celebrate other holidays from me like Hanukkah and Yom Kippur made me realize that there are so many different beliefs, religions, and traditions out there that I have never even learned about. In the end I still believe and follow christianity but I am more open and aware to people with different beliefs than me.
