Assignment 14 - Julia Meadors

I do enjoy Thanksgiving, though not necessarily because of the food. My Thanksgiving is split up into two parts, lunch and dinner.
Our first stop is lunch with my dad’s side of the family. Even though everyone in both sides of my family lives in Lexington, I only see my dad’s side of the family on birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and maybe one other quick stop at my grandparent’s house. I really enjoy seeing my younger cousins even though they get super shy with a ton of people around. Here we eat my favorite food of the holidays, my grandma’s dumplings. We also have turkey and stuffing and other foods. Even though I’m 17, I still eat at the kid's table in the living room, which consists of my siblings and our two younger cousins.

After eating and talking and catching up, talking about school and what I’ve done since the last family gathering, we pack up and head over to my cousin's house for dinner with my mom’s side of the family. I see them a lot more often so there is a lot less catching up to do. Megan and I pull out a puzzle with our aunt and solve it on the coffee table before and after eating. By the time dinner rolls around I’m normally not very hungry after the big lunch. My strategy is to eat real food during lunch so I can eat mainly desert at my cousin’s house. I really do enjoy seeing all of my family together, and then again a week later for the start of birthday season because half of the family have December birthdays.
