Griffin Coates Assignment 21

The most memorable time was during my freshman year just transitioning to high school. I had no clue what high school was like and didn't know what lay ahead of me. I came from a middle school that came nowhere near to preparing me for high school. I was babied, being allowed to turn in late work and other things along those lines. Then, high school came and I was astounded. My classes had 10-15 more people in them, and the teaching style was a lot different. The biggest thing for me was that grades actually mattered. In middle school I could coast along and get 2 or 3 B's and be fine. But here, my grades affected me and my chances of getting into college.

It took me until about halfway through my first semester that everything matters now. What clubs I was in, what my actions were and how my grades represented me. I learned how to study in a way that benefitted me, learned how to adequately prepare myself for the rest of high school. Overall, I feel like this was a wake up call for me. Without it, I probably would've continued to coast for the rest of high school.
