Assignment 20 Lucy Ferguson

I've done dance my whole life up until this winter and have been learning how to do turns and leaps for a while now and I'd say i can do a pretty decent leap. Its not hard once you get all the steps down and practice for a little bit.
1) First you need to stretch out to make sure you don't pull any muscles and don't hurt yourself. Ideally you want to be able to do the splits, which is pretty much the hardest part to a good leap, but thats not necessary when first starting.
2) Next off you need to practice what you are going to do with your arms. The most common way is to keep your arms straight and in front of you and put one arm a little higher than the other. If you are doing the leap with your right leg in front put your right arm higher than the left arm.
3) Next you are going to want to do something to get into the jump. The easiest way is to take 2 steps, starting first with the right leg.
4) After taking 2 steps you are going to want to push off your left leg and jump with your right leg in front of you and your left leg behind you and try to split your legs as far apart as you can and make sure to put your arms in the position you practiced.
5) Make sure to point your feet when in the air to make the leap look prettier.
6) When landing, make sure you land on your left leg with the knee bent and take a couple steps out of it to keep the momentum going.
7) Now that you've done your first leap make sure to continue to practice in order to get better!
