Assignment 23 Harris Hawkins

A Lowkey Breakup Playlist:
An all too common occurrence. We aren't really dating someone but we really like them and love the idea of us together. Then, suddenly they find someone else or break it to you they don't feel the same way. A playlist to get you through the almost breakup>

1. "Power Trip" by J.Cole: A 2013 song by J.Cole that is easy to dance to, however, if you listen closely the lyrics can hit you right in the feels. With lines like, " Even wrote the song dreams for you
'Cause I had dreams for you, thoughts of a ring for you, " J.Cole expresses all the hopes he had for a girl. We go on to learn this particular girl left and he has always struggled to find someone better.

2. "Heartless" by Kanye West: In my opinion, one of Kanye's greatest works. The title speaks for the song as Kanye describes a cold hearted women who stole his soul. The loneliness the break up causes him is displayed through the line, "You got a new friend, well I got homies but in the end it's still so lonely." This line is easy to relate to how hard it is to move on after a breakup.

3. "Umbrella" by Rihanna: A banger. This song will be stuck in your head for days and may even cheer you up after a "lowkey breakup." The song describes a rough patch in a relationship but not to worry because she has an Umbrella to protect them.

4. "Whatcha Say" by Jason Derulo: A theme in life is that people really don't know how good something is until its gone. This is exemplified through the line, "So, no I know I should of treated you better." This song perfectly portrays this with the artist asking for one more chance.

5. "Work Out" by J.Cole: Arguably, the song that mad J.cole blow up. "Work Out" tries to figure out if the love is real or just "a hit and run" as the song puts it. Many of us wonder this. Was she just being nice or does she actually like me?
