Assignment 9 Cate Clay

War should be neither glorified nor regarded as a simple solution to global conflict. It devastates communities, takes lives, and often leads to worsened conflict. I don't think I could morally say that there is a time for war, as in there are instances in which war is the best possible solution. The remnants of war are frequently downplayed. The destruction it causes is immense, affecting both the "winners" and "losers." The big question is, what exactly are the alternatives to war?
With such prominent cultural differences throughout the world, it seems war is inevitable. So, even though there is not time for war, there will be times of war until we find better solutions. To avoid war and its horrible effects, the focus of governments everywhere should be to find better ways of resolving conflict.
The journey to finding these alternatives begins by curtailing corruption within the governments of powerful countries. This can be done with citizen demand through the promotion of grassroots protest against governmental corruption. Bettering the political state of these countries puts them in the position to use their resources to help other countries. Increased aid to less fortunate countries is the best way to reduce conflict, as much of the world's wars begin in economically disadvantaged areas of the world.
