Assignment 1 Cate Clay

My name is Cate Clay. As you can see, I am a junior in the Henry Clay Liberal Arts Academy. I spend most of my time doing schoolwork and hanging out with friends. Additionally, I'm involved in a variety extracurricular activities such cross country, psychology club, Y club, and the Dance Blue committee. This year I hope to become a stronger writer, better handle the stress that comes with school, build upon the UNICEF Club my friend and I created last March, and find an organization to regularly volunteer for.

Ultimately, my goal is to become a neurosurgeon and you could definitely say neuroscience "geeks me out". My interest in the medical field began in middle school, when I visited the hospital because of a spleen injury and started to watch the  popular TV series Grey's Anatomy. I didn't think of the hospital environment as being gross anymore, but rather as interesting. I became passionate about the brain specifically last year while taking AP Psychology. I hope to continue my Spanish education so that I can one day participate in Doctors Without Borders and help Spanish-speaking populations all over the world.
