Hello, my name is Luke de Castro. I
have lived in Lexington all my life. This year in AP Lang. I would like to develop
a unique writing style. I love reading articles in the news from sources like The
New York Times, Vox, WIRED, and The Verge. Although I don’t particularly aspire
to be a journalist, I want to improve my writing, so I can better communicate
my ideas.
Some areas
of interest for me include computer science, flying drones, and space
exploration (you could say they geek me out). I truly believe that technology
can solve any problem; consequently, I aspire to become a computer scientist.
This has been my main extracurricular focus, and I have been working with a
computer science professor at UK over the summer to learn more about the field.
My interests in drones and in space are connected in that they both offer a new
perspective on the world. I can view the ground from a new angle with drone
flight and the whole world from a new angle with space exploration.
I haven’t been to space yet, but it is one of my life goals.
I enjoy new ideas that challenge our way of life. Here is a
video by Vox that gives new ideas on burying the dead:
My favorite website is YouTube because it’s a place to go when
you’re bored and/or want to learn something new.
